investing in our

Healthcare

We have a sickcare system, not a healthcare system. As a recovering alcoholic and addict with over 26 years sober, I know my long term success is based on the foundation I received in the beginning of my journey of recovery. Families should not have to fight to make sure their loved ones receive the care they need to obtain that foundation. We need to rethink our healthcare system to transform it into a system that invests in our long term health.

  • Lowering prescription drug costs

  • Make healthcare affordable and accessible

  • Older Americans should not have to be concerned with how they will afford dentures, hearing aids, and glasses- none of which are covered under the current medicare system.

  • Women deserve to be able to obtain whatever healthcare they need without government interference. Doctor-patient privilege is sacrosanct, and the government has no role in deciding on anyone’s medical care.

  • The last two years have been so hard on our families, children, teachers, parents, healthcare professionals, and the immunocompromised. Access to mental/behavioral healthcare is challenging. A six month wait should not be the status quo to receiving mental healthcare. We need to invest in more practitioners and ensure that everyone can get the help they need regardless of finances.

  • If we want to address the substance use disorder epidemic, we must make it easier to get into rehab than it is to get drugs. Recovery doesn’t happen in a week. It requires long term commitment and our healthcare system needs to invest in ensuring patients have a solid foundation.
